Lighting Rod - The lighting rod was invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1749. It would be placed on to tall buildings and have a wire run down the side of the building to a ground rod in the ground.

Those where just a few of Benjamin Franklin's many inventions, But none where as famous as his discovery of electricity. Electricity was already known but then. His experiment with a kite and key was to prove that lighting was electricity.
